The Prince’s Trust Xl group and the London Philharmonic Orchestra

The year 10 Prince’s Trust XL group were given the amazing opportunity to work with the world famous London Philharmonic Orchestra.
For five weeks members of the LPO came in to run sessions with the group, teaching the students different types of music, how to play new instruments and running confidence building activities.

Their piece of music was to be combined with an established musical group and performed at the Royal Festival Hall on London’s Southbank. There are many musicians the world over who would want the opportunity of performing at one of London’s most recognized musical venues.

By the time the main performance came there was a complete change in the student’s confidence compared to 5 weeks before. Before the students started their work with the LPO it was a struggle to get some of these students to answer a question in front of their class mates and now they were ready to perform in front of a crowd of 200 plus!!!

The performance took place on Saturday 1st December in front of several Harris teaching staff and our students were amazing; every one of them oozing in confidence with a real sense of self pride as the audience applauded their fantastic performance.

It really was an experience the students will never forget and with the confidence these students have gained through the project it is one that will have a positive impact on them forever.
Thanks to all staff who took the time to make the performance. The students appreciated it.
Take a minute to see the photos of this fantastic opportunity.
