Below are three homework tasks to be completed this half term.   Class teachers may set homework in addition to this or homework tasks instead of this.  This will be made clear in lessons.  All homework is to be completed in homework books.


Subject: History

Year Group 8

Deadline: Lesson of week beginning Monday  16th June

Homework task: Learn the spelling and definition of the following key terms. You will be tested on the spelling and definition of these words in your history lesson.


1 – Cold War

2 – Communism

3 – Capitalism

4 – Right Wing

5 – Left Wing

6 - Flashpoint

7 – Nuclear Bomb

8 – Arms race


A successful homework task will…

Enable you to accurately the spell the words and be able to use them in a sentence and in context.



Deadline: Lesson of week beginning Monday 30th June

Homework task: Complete the assessment preparation sheet in advance of your assessment 


A successful homework task will…

Be a fully completed sheet that has addressed all the key issues from previous lessons so that you are prepared for your assessment.



Deadline: Lesson of week beginning 14th July

Homework task: Create a storyboard or a cartoon strip which shows the Cold War flashpoints and describes each one.  Add an explanation as to which was the most significant flash point and why.


A successful homework task will…

Include images and text of description and will show and understanding of events and a judgement as to which was the most significant one.
