Dan Sofianos

Vice Principal (Attendance, KS4 & KS5)

Mr Sofianos is Vice Principal and a member of the Senior Leadership Team, playing a central role in shaping a school culture defined by high standards, clarity, and care for every student. Having grown up in the local area, he is deeply committed to serving the community and ensuring young people have access to the very best opportunities.

After graduating from Queen Mary’s University of London with a degree in Drama, he discovered his vocation for education while teaching overseas in Hong Kong. This formative experience shaped his belief in the transformative power of education—not only to secure academic success, but to develop confident, capable young people ready to thrive in a changing world. On returning to the UK, he trained as an English and Drama teacher through the Institute of Education, bringing a global perspective and a strong commitment to inclusive, values-led practice.

Throughout his career, Mr Sofianos has held a range of senior roles, including Head of Department, Advanced Skills Teacher, Specialist Leader of Education, and Assistant Principal. He is recognised for building strong, sustainable systems that empower others and endure over time. Schools he has helped to lead have been judged Outstanding in their most recent inspections, reflecting excellence in culture, leadership, and provision.

A qualified SENCO, coach, and holder of the National Professional Qualification for Senior Leadership (NPQSL), he leads with a coaching-driven, people-centred approach. Guided by the principle of being “clear to be kind,” he translates complex ideas into purposeful action, enabling staff and students to succeed with confidence.
