Life in Sixth Form
Sixth Form at Harris Academy Greenwich is a challenging, supportive and exciting stage where students grow academically, personally and professionally. We believe in making EXCELLENCE a habit.
Our culture
We are driven by our core values: Work Hard, Be Kind, Take Responsibility.
We treat students as young adults and hold them to high standards, because we believe effort matters more than natural ability and that all students are capable of excellence. We support students to develop strong habits, independence and ambition.
The Sixth Form day
Students benefit from a balance of structure and independence:
- Morning tutor time focused on academic guidance, careers and personal development
- Expert teaching and high expectations in lessons from subject experts
- Dedicated, independent silent study sessions built into the timetable
- Weekly assemblies
- Free periods that allow students to work independently in our Sixth Form study spaces, choosing to revise, complete coursework, attend drop-in sessions or work collaboratively with peers
This approach mirrors university and professional life after school and helps students become confident, organised learners.

Support and high expectations
Students are well known by the Sixth Form team and supported by tutors, Heads of Year and pastoral staff. Attendance, punctuality and preparation are taken seriously because they underpin success and we know they directly impact outcomes. We also ensure students are well prepared for assessments. Regular internal exams help students track progress, identify gaps and build confidence under exam conditions, while clear guidance supports students as they move towards Year 13 and post-18 applications.
Opportunities beyond lessons
Alongside academics, students access a wide range of enrichment opportunities, including:
- Subject and career-focused societies
- Leadership roles such as Student Ambassadors
- Work Experience Week and careers events
- University visits and guest speakers
- Access to the Harris Experience Advanced Programme
