Year 9 Options
"Our vision is to empower students to make informed, thoughtful decisions about their options, emphasising how these choices open doors to a wide range of opportunities for their future."
Timeline

Picking your GCSE subjects is a big decision, so we want your decision to be well informed.
The Year 9 options selection process will begin on Wednesday 11th February, and continue until 20th March.
It starts with us sending you the Year 9 Options Booklet (also linked just below). This booklet contains key information about the subjects, course content, and guidance to help support informed decision-making.

26th February: Options information evening
On the 26th February (the first Thursday after half term), we will host a Year 9 options presentation in our main hall from 5.00 - 5.45pm. For those that can’t attend physically, the presentation will be repeated online 6.00 - 6.45pm. During this session, we will:
- Explain the full options process and timeline
- Highlight the importance of thoughtful subject choices
- Outline how the selection system works
- Answer frequently asked questions from parents and students
Half term 3 in lessons: We teach you about the subjects
In the weeks that follow, students will receive further support in lessons and assemblies. Subject specialists will speak to students about what GCSE study in their subject looks like, particularly for subjects they don’t currently study, such as Business and Sociology. This will ensure students have a clear understanding of expectations before making their final decisions.
Friday 20th March: Time to have made a decision
We will ask students to submit their subject preferences by the end of the fourth week back after half term (Friday 20th March).
