Harry Bailey
Assistant Principal (DSL)
From the local community, Mr Bailey grew up in Middle Park and attended Eltham Green School. He began his career working in veterinary practice and later as Head of Department at a Land-Based College, before joining Harris Greenwich in 2015. Alongside his teaching, he completed a BA (Hons) in Education and Professional Training, bringing a unique combination of scientific expertise and pastoral insight to his work in schools.
Mr Bailey is a passionate advocate for the welfare and safeguarding of all students. Guided by the principles set out in Keeping Children Safe in Education, he believes every child has the right to a high-quality education in an environment free from harm. He has dedicated his career to ensuring that students feel safe, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.
As a visible and collaborative leader, Mr Bailey is highly approachable for both staff and students. He builds strong, trusting relationships across the school community and fosters a culture where concerns are addressed early, with timely support and intervention. He wants students to feel safe to disclose any issues, and staff to feel confident in reporting and responding to concerns, knowing they are supported at every step.
Over the course of his career, Mr Bailey has been instrumental in developing and sustaining safeguarding systems, ensuring the school is proactive in its care for students. He takes pride in leading a dedicated provision team that has consistently delivered outstanding support for vulnerable students, making a tangible difference to their wellbeing and educational outcomes.
In addition to his safeguarding responsibilities, Mr Bailey is a teacher of Science and continues to be actively involved in the pastoral life of the school. His approach is grounded in the belief that strong pastoral care is the foundation for academic success, and that every child deserves an environment in which they are respected, valued, and able to thrive.
As Designated Safeguarding Lead and overseer of the school’s provision, Mr Bailey combines professionalism with warmth, leading by example and ensuring that the values of safety, support, and opportunity underpin everything the school does.
